Maile Marshall described the terrifying moments when 44-year-old Henry Roberts allegedly assaulted her.
Tucson police officers responded to a call Friday near Speedway and Tucson Boulevard.
According to the probable cause statement, the 29-year-old victim was sweeping her yard with the gate open when Henry Roberts made eye contact and stared at her.
She waved because she felt uncomfortable with him continuing to look at her.
Roberts then quickly rushed toward her.
Marshall tried to hit him with the broom but was unable to do so before Roberts tackled her to the ground.
She was able to roll onto her stomach and cover her head, but Roberts continued striking her in the face, according to court documents.
A good Samaritan heard the commotion, stopped and yelled at Roberts, causing him to flee the property.
Police located Roberts the next day.
He was booked on two counts of aggravated assault.
Roberts is being held on a $30,000 bond.
