More than 1,600 luminaries lit up Banner – UMC on Thursday night, honoring babies lost during pregnancy or shortly after birth as part of a global day of remembrance.

October 15 is marked around the world with the Wave of Light, as families light candles in memory of the children they've lost.

The candlelight tradition symbolizes a wave of light spreading around the globe in honor of those children.

Organizer Becky Heral said the gathering is so families know they are not alone and that every life mattered.
