Repeated power outages spark concerns on Tucson's Eastside area.
Repeated power outages are sparking frustration and concern among residents on the city's eastside.
More than 500 customers lost electricity near the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Pantano Road on Tuesday, Sept. 29, according to Tucson Electric Power.
The outage marks the third time the neighborhood has lost power in just the last few weeks.
TEP officials reported that a downed wire fell during recent weather, causing the outage on Tuesday morning.
Crews successfully restored power to the affected customers within two hours.
For some neighbors, however, the recurring blackouts are becoming a pattern.
East Tucson resident Mike Young said the frequent outages forced him to buy a backup generator to keep his lights and appliances running.
TEP says that Tuesday's incident was about the fifth outage in the Broadway and Pantano area this year.
The utility company noted that most outages in the area are typically restored within minutes or seconds.
The power company is currently looking at ways to strengthen the local grid and speed up repairs or reroute power during future outages.
